In doing our end-of-season reviews. The Boston Celtics were a force to be reckoned with. Coming into the season, this was supposed to be a gap year for the Celtics. With Jayson Tatum out, the front office is committing to moving expensive furniture. All that did was overachieve to get the second seed in the East, and yeah, Jayson came back. Despite all that, the team blew a 3-1 lead to the 76ers in a surprising turn of events. I have three questions as the Celtics enter the offseason.
What will they do with the roster?
Boston will have to make some decisions. When shopping for ways to improve their top-heavy core. Their free agency will involve Neemias Queta. Will they pay him that kind of money? Then there is big man Nikola V, while they did rescue from the Chicago Bulls wonderland. He hasn't become the Al Horford for the veteran presence they need. Big man revolution is on for the Celtics, who might need to either bring one back or sign someone.
What will they do with Derrick White?
Derrick White is everybody's favorite cousin, but after his recent performance, he might be on the block. Could the Celtics move Derrick White for a third star who could help them? He did help them win a title a few years back. He might get the Jrue Holiday treatment like last offseason to free up salary cap space courtesy of Brad Stevens: Thank you for Celtic pride''.
Future outlook?
The Celtics were supposed to be a dumpster fire and catch them next year. They did the opposite, won a bunch of games, and got their star back. Whatever they do with the roster this offseason will be about saving money, upgrading the big man position, and finding its next everyday do-it-all veteran. Next season, the Celtics will be title contenders and the favorite to win it all. The question is, will they let the 3-1 blown lead haunt them next postseason?
