When we think of the Chicago Bulls they are one of the most iconic brands in the league. If we being honest the Bulls claim to fame was employing the greatest dynasty and player in Michael Jordan. Those six championships and 90's dominance is probably the only reason this franchise remain relevant. Outside of the Derrick Rose era(What-if) and the rough rider Jimmy Butler era the Bulls have been irrelevant in winning games.
Recently, the Bulls have decided to do some spring cleaning in firinng their decision makers. Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley was shown the door in what is shaping up to be a important offseason in recent memory. An entire regime change could be in play and honestly that may be the best decision for the long term. Here are three important offseason decisions the Bulls need to make and how it can benefit them.
Figure out who going to lead the front office.
You know the Bulls are going to need a new President of Basketball Operations & General Manager. I won't name who I believe should be in the roles but there is a model to follow. When looking at recent rebuilds success (Detriot and Charlotte) Chicago needs to take that route. In their division it's going to be an uphill battle to realistically contend right now. The Pistons aren't going anywhere, the Cavaliers have win now ambitions and the Pacers could be right back in the finals next year with Tyrese Haliburton next season. That means the Bulls will be competiting with a Bucks team most likely to trade in Giannis in the offseason. This is a multi-year rebuild in Chicago and building through the draft and hit on those picks to have future success like the current Pistons have.
Decide on Billy Donovan
The future of Billy Donovan is uncertain right now. The new regime in any sports like to pick their own guy. You can say keeping Billy Donovan for the purpose of having a grown up on the sidelines. A new regime gets an young assistant coach that can develop the roster whatever decision will define the future. If there's one thing that makes a young NBA team succesful it's choosing a leader of men.
Deciding on the core
When looking at the current roster it's not devoid of talent. I mean Josh Giddey, Matas Buzeulis, Tre Jones and Patrick Williams to name a few. The issue is the team have too many guards and not enough help on the frontcourt specifically a big man at the center position. They have solid pieces and if the team lands in the top four of the draft they can select a potential franchise star to build around. The next regime must decide the core of this team that can make them releavnt again no pressure right.
The Chicago Bulls have been in no man land for a few years or more like an eternity. It's been a long time since they raised a championship banner in the windy city. The 2026 offseason has a chance to finally change the course for a team known more for it's glory days. Will the Bulls finally rise to the promise land or will it just be the last dance in the wonderland?
